Active User Report

How do I run a report listing the active users in a particular time period? I'd like to manager our license on a monthly basis.

Hi @LauraC, welcome! We don't have a way to export your billing history in bulk at this time, but you can see the active number of users you had each month in the policy billing owner's Account Settings > Billing section. From there simply click the 'View Receipt' button to see the number of active users on your bill.
Cheers!

Hi @lauraC, I hope you've been well. I wanted to circle back to you and update you with a pretty nifty and quick workaround to exporting your active users for the month to a spreadsheet.
Once billing has run for the month, you can head to your Settings > Your Account > Billing tab and scroll down to your billing history. Click on the blue View Activity link for the month you want to export and then highlight and copy all the emails listed as active users.
Next, head to Google Sheets and in A1 paste the emails you copied. With A1 still selected click on Data > Split text to columns. The entire list of emails will now be in individual cells.
You can go one step further and organize the emails vertically be selecting all the cells with emails and copying the data. Click on cell A1 once more and then Edit > Paste Special > Paste Transposed.
The resulting spreadsheet will have a full list of your active users, sorted alphabetically and vertically in individual columns.
I hope this info helps you or another customer make this process easier.

I'd like to see a report that gives us this data BEFORE the billing period ends, is that possible?

Hi @Greg_Armstrong, Sorry but we don't have anything like that right now. But that doesn't mean we never will. Can you explain what you want it for? i.e. give me some insight?

Expensify has created a situation where customers have to guess at the number of their active users in a given month (when under an annual subscription rather than pay-per-use). This creates a win-win situation for Expensify because if we guess too high, we pay for users that we don't use, and if we guess too low, we pay double for the users over our annual subscription amount. This makes good business sense for Expensify, but hurts your customers. You obviously have systems in place to track the number of active users in a month, because you send us a report at the close of each billing period. However, I'm not expecting you to send this to us before the close of the billing period, because that would give away your comparative advantage. I appreciate the response though!

Upvote this suggestion - I wish the model was different with Expensify. It's impossible to gauge the need for functionality through a community that people may or may not be active in . https://community.expensify.com/discussion/4868/preview-active-users-for-billing-before-month-ends
have you found a work around?
