Earlier this year we added the ability to use names in Expensify so that it’s easier to tell who is submitting and approving expenses. We’re happy to announce that we have updated our accounting and HR integrations to do this for you automatically! 🎉

Names can now be imported from QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Financial Force, Workday, Zenefits, and Gusto. If the user has not filled out their name in their Expensify Account Settings, the connection will automatically import their name from your integrated software. This works for users invited to your policy before and after you set up an accounting or HR connection.

FAQ:

  • I set up a connection after inviting my employees to Expensify, how do you know which names to fill in?
The connection uses email addresses to match employee entries in your accounting or HR software to accounts in Expensify. If a match is found then the name listed in the employee entry is imported into the matching Expensify account.

  • What happens if I have more than one of the aforementioned softwares connected, such as an accounting software and HR software?
In this case, the name will be imported from the HR software, unless of course you manually sync your accounting software before the automatic nightly sync.

  • If I create an account and type in my own name, will the integration override it?
No - we won't override a name if the fields are already filled in.

  • The accounting integration imported my full name. Can I use my nickname instead?
Sure! You can edit your name under your Settings > Account at any time.
