Search by amount (or any text field for that matter) - this is tablestakes....
Great product but if you don't have the ability to search by any field, your development managers are probably not users of the system. Every financial entity considers this a checklist item, so come on folks, get with. It's super frustrating to not be able to do a quick search to see if 'that lunch' or 'that parking fee' was processed.

1 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful 1Vote Up AwesomeHi @ShaneDS Welcome to the Expensify Community! Thanks for your feedback. To help me build out my business case for this, can you tell me what it is about the lack of a global search that is causing so much additional work?
I look forward to hearing from you!

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up AwesomeHi @Rachael Hopkins
Thank you for following up. Many times the names on the receipts that are scanned to not match the bank transactions. For instance, if we get gas, the receipt may say Shell Gas but it comes through on our statement SG632.
Therefore it would be ideal for us to reconcile missing expenses by searching the expense reports by amount.
Further, this should just be a standard table that's searchable. Every accounting software, banking, and financial software all has the ability to search by amount. It seems odd that this wouldn't be available.

1 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up 1AwesomeBeing able to search fields - especially the Description field - is a basic essential.
Example use case:
One of my hard drives failed. I don't recall who I bought it from, or whether it's still under warrenty. I had to search through 2 years' worth of receipts manually before I found it, by guessing at what I might have paid and looking at every single likely-looking amount. Big task. Thanks to Covid my transactions are down, I hate to think how long it would have taken me if I'd had the usual number of receipts going through.
Had I had a Description search available, I could have searched 'disk' knowing I'd have put that in the description when I saved the receipt.
Others have requested a search by Amount; that would help too.

Being able to search fields - especially the Description field - is a basic essential. Others have requested a search by Amount; that would help too.
Example use case (1):
A hard drive failed. I have quite a few and I don't recall who I bought this particular one from, or whether it's still under warrenty.
Use Case (2)
Query to my accountant about whether they claimed VAT on an item I thoight was VATable, they didn't. I found evidence that it is. Now we have to find it. I know what the thing does, but don't recall what it was called. I do recall it cost £400. Again, I'll have to scan though all my receipts to find it.

1 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up 1AwesomeI along with a ton of other users have been asking for this for a few years now. For some reason Expensify doesn't think this simple search function is necessary. I keep saying I'm going to quit and use another service over this one function, but for some reason I keep holding out and believing when they say they are working on it.
Fool me once.....shame on you
Fool me twice....

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up AwesomeHi @kidssale the number of people who ask for this is actually surprisingly low given the number of users we have. There's around 87 votes across all similar suggestions over 2.5 years, and in this time the Community has had over 42,000 visitors resulting in over 1.6 million visits.
This is a feature that requires a large amount of development. While it's certainly still firmly on the radar, it's not a quick-fix in any way, shape or form. I cannot give you any indication of when this might be done.

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up Awesome@Rachael Hopkins those are some interesting statistics! Do you also have data on your engagement rate? Just curious how many of those 42,000 visitors engaged or interacted in those 1.6 million visits.
How many were actual end users, versus someone just randomly stumbling across Expensify and it's community as they research software options? How many were bots or SEO scripts (Bots account for 52% of all web traffic after all, since we're getting into statistics)? How many were just trying to find 2 Chainz song from the Superbowl commercial? How many visits were from the SNAP $50 reimbursement campaign- which fueled a LOT of follow ups (how do I set myself up? What's acceptable proof? Why am I not accepted to to this policy yet? Am I ever getting this $50, or was it a scam? Oh, you actually closed this campaign after I applied for it? 5 months later, thank you so much for this $50! I only spent 10 cumulative hours on requesting and following up on it), and may never use or see the Expensify platform again afterwards? How many were actual admins?
To me, that's the beauty of what this community represents. You get direct insights from your admins- your power users and decision makers. Companies pay ridiculous amounts of money to garner the opinions of focus groups and consultants to gain this level of insight on what their customers want. And yet here you are, getting it for free and doing nothing with it.
If the things the community has voiced their opinions on don't even matter because it's a drop in the ocean of all your overall traffic, then what's the point of it anyways?

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up Awesome@Julia I believe the users are all validated, meaning they have an Expensify account (this is different to page views, which is 242,000 in the last month). To get a feel for traffic, we've had 2400 different users use the Community in the past 30 days. 1800 in December, 1700 in November, 2300 in October. It usually sits around 1500 - 2500 per month as a general rule!
The most popular posts are pretty banal - related to Scheduled Submit or how to download the mobile app.
Hopefully I can bring you an update on where we're heading with the Community very soon.

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up AwesomeYour only option is to select and export all your reports to CSV and search through the spreadsheet. It would be much easier to have this as a feature, but I hope this tip at least helps anyone who needs it for now rather than trying to manually search through each report.
