Expensify not syncing all Xero GL Expense codes

Hi,
I'm trying to setup an Expensify-Xero integration but Expensify doesn't seem to pull across all of the expense related GL codes from Xero.
Initially I thought it may have something to do with matching existing Expensify category names, so I deleted the Xero Connection, and all the existing categories, and setup the connection again. Still no joy :-(
Expensity is pulling across 17 out of the 42 categories that exist in our Xero accounts and there doesn't appear to be any consistent pattern to which ones are sync'd and which ones aren't.
Any pointers on how to further diagnose the problem or resolve it would be much appreciated.
Thanks🙂

Hi @mtu2407! Happy to help! In order to pull your GL codes into Expensify as categories they either need to be an Expense type GL or have "Show in expense claims" checked on the GL settings in Xero. Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Nicole,
I'd missed the "Show in expense claims" checkbox in Xero, and for some reason it was checked on some GL accounts and not others. All sorted now.
Now I have it working, I have to say, it's a damned slick integration - very easy to use and done right!
One small piece of feedback to your product development folks; it would be really useful to have an option to ignore all existing and closed expense reports when setting up a new connection. Having to go back through 3 years of monthly expense reports and mark them all as manually entered is a bit of a PITA.
Thanks

That's great to hear @mtu2407! While we won't automatically export any reports that already exist in Expensify, recent ones may show up in your inbox as awaiting export. You shouldn't need to mark all of them as manually exported. Were these showing up as tasks in your inbox?

Yes, all previously completed and closed expense reports showed up in my inbox as awaiting export. So to get them all out of my inbox I went into each report and marked it as manually entered, after which it disappeared from my inbox. Is there a better way? Whilst it's only a one-time activity it would be good to have it available as a bulk option or an option when setting up a connection. Especially as Expensify makes a big deal over an empty inbox ;-)

@mtu2407 This isn't actually supposed to happen. While you can select all of them from the reports page and bulk mark all of them as exported, I'm going to bring this up to my team to see if we can fix this in the future. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

Thanks for responding. Hopefully an easier journey for someone else in the future :-)
