FAQ: What happens when an Expensify Card transaction is refunded?

The way a refund is displayed in Expensify is dependant on the state the expense is in (pending or posted) and if the employee also submitted a SmartScanned receipt of the expense. Remember, a SmartScanned receipt will merge with the Expensify Card expense.
Full Refunds:
- If the transaction is Pending and doesn't have a receipt attached (excluding eReceipts), a full refund will hide the transaction.
- If the transaction is Pending and there's a receipt attached (excluding eReceipts), a full refund will zero-out the transaction (amount becomes zero).
Partial Refunds:
- If the transaction is Pending (regardless of receipt), a partial refund will reduce the amount in the transaction.
- If the transaction is Posted, a partial refund will create a negative transaction for the refund amount.

What happens with non-expensify CCC refunds after the actual expenses are exported to Netsuite? What's the best practice to export refunds to Netsuite?

Hi @Adam1234 - If you've connected your corporate card to Expensify and receive a refund on a transaction made on that card, then the refund will also be imported to Expensify through the card connection as a negative expense. You can categorize the refund with whichever category corresponds to the appropriate GL account, then export to NetSuite.

That helps. Thank you @Sasha Kluger
