Tax Column on Expense Report
In Canada, we can claim back GST/HST paid. However, some goods and services can only be claimed back at 50%. Having a tax column on the expense report will help the employee to do a quick check if the tax was entered correctly instead of click into each expense one by one which is a very time consuming process.

Thanks for sharing your idea, @lnguyen, and welcome to the Expensify Community!
As an immediate workaround, your employees can create custom CSV exports. This will allow them to quickly export a report and see all expenses and associated taxes. Your employees can use these formulas to build their templates. There are a few different tax-related formulas, but it sounds like {expense:tax:amount} may be the best fit here.

We have introduced Category Default Tax functionality. This will allow you to set a different tax rate for specific expense types (such as meals and entertainment) so you know that you are not claiming more than you are allowed. For your specific use case, I suggest creating an additional tax rate which is 50% of the standard HST rate and then set this as the default rate for your Meals and Entertainment category.

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up AwesomeHi Jenna. Actually, Canada customers should use the following process in order to account for HST on meals: 1) split any tip from the total expense amount as a separate expense (with 0% tax) and 2) use a tax rate of 6.1% on the remaining expense. Because Expensify calculates the tax on the total expense (including HST) this will result in posting exactly half of the 13% HST. Expensify should really post a formal tutorial on how to manage HST in Canada instead of users having to figure this out for themselves.

You should hopefully be able to find that by googling something like "how to apply tax to Expensify". We find that google does a great job of surfacing our help docs!
