Need @mention in Comments field

in Ideas
This would allow only the person concerned to get the comment - mainly the reporter in our company's case where a Report goes through approval levels. Managers most of the time don't need to see comments

Hi @Aussiebandit, loving all the great ideas you've been sharing! We're updating the status of this to "Gathering use cases" so that we can hear from more users with similar needs.
Thanks!

@mention in comments (this idea) is to facilitate communication in the platform as close to the details of the transaction as possible (as opposed to emailing someone outside the platform)
What you are asking for sounds like tagging other people to an expense line item in the comments for that item (for example: a team dinner where you add the comment that "Jim, Katie, Silvia, & Tyler were at the dinner). If this is the case, this is the new idea. Also FYI - I think Expensify has explored this but decided against it. But if we think its a good idea, lets let them know!

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up Awesome@Daveweez, I believe I saw this thread and added the comment to this page. Honestly I don’t really know where it would go besides the mention. Would someone get an email? Someone approve? I don’t see this exporting well into accounting software. Idk. I just thought it would be nice to mention someone on the line level, not much more thought than that.

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up AwesomeAgree, managers rarely need to see many of the comments.
One issue we have with comments is a lot of our reports are submitted by copilots and they aren’t notified when a comment is made unless we share the report with them. @mentions would really help.
