How about setting the filter text in red to indicate that not all expenses are visible. It's easy to forget that a filter is active. I don't use filters often, and always am confused when one is set that I forgot from last time.

In the meantime, it might be worthwhile to get into the habit of hitting the "reset filters" when you start your session!
