More fine-grained notification settings

You currently offer this notification setting: "Outstanding report tasks or status updates (such as when my reports are rejected)".

More fine-grained settings for particular tasks would be nice. In my case, yes, I'd really like to know if my reports are rejected. But because I submit expenses once at the end of each month, I don't want to see extra reminders that I have those unsubmitted expenses. There doesn't seem to be any way to suppress those reminders without also missing useful notifications.

Hey @JamesR, thanks for sharing your idea!

So just to be clear, it sounds like you want granular email notifications for 1. Expense report rejections and 2. Expense reports pending submissions. Is that right?

If so, we don't have a way to do this today and so we'll leave this open for other customers to upvote if they have a similar use-case.

PS - as a workaround in the meantime, some customers have opted to create a filter in the email to hide certain emails (like those related to pending report submissions).

Thanks! Yes, that's right. It's not clear to me if that notification setting might include even more subcategories of notifications. If so, I'd love to see those broken out into more granular options, too.

I would like to see a notification when my approver hasn't approved my report in X number of days or by a certain date each month. As a submitter, I am responsible for making sure that my manager has approved my report by the deadline for reimbursement. If they don't, I don't get reimbursed. It is easy to forget about the report(s) pending approval. I'd like to receive a notification that the report has been pending approval for longer than expected. Approvers already receive these reminders, I'd like to enable submitters to also receive reminders.

Hi @DDBpdx - I don't mean to sound facetious, but you want a reminder so that you can personally remind someone about a task we already remind them about (every Sunday)?

I would like to respectfully suggest an update to your internal processes, that Managers are the ones responsible for the reports they need to Approve, and failing them, your Finance/Accounting team is ultimately responsible.

Or, encourage your company to get the Expensify Card (if you're eligible) so that users don't need to be out of pocket and rely on managers.

It sounds like this process has the focus on the wrong end of the workflow here, and that does not appeal to my sense of fairness!
