Multiple Currency

Hi!
Why doesn't Expensify automatically convert my photo receipts from $, € or any other currency to GBP?
Example: Scanning a EUR receipt and then scanning a GPB receipt on the same report, the report shows the EUR receipt as GBP.
Surely, this must be an automated tool for multi-currency users?

Hey there, @Dan0_Vantage! Thanks for that great question!
Hm, it sounds like you're SmartScanning more than one receipt; one was incurred in EUR, and the other incurred in GBP. It sounds like you're expecting all of these expenses to convert to a single currency – GBP perhaps?
If so, that's exactly what the policy's output currency should dictate. Essentially, any expense incurred in a currency different than the policy's output currency will be converted to the policy's set output currency.
Here's an overview of how all that works: Currency in Expensify overview
Now, it sounds to me like you might be coming across behavior different than what's described in the above article, so I wonder if you might be running into any issues with SmartScanning.
There are a few tips I can offer to improve the overall accuracy of a SmartScanned image, but sometimes a SmartScan might just be wrong. If that does happen, we're interested to know so we can make adjustments to the system.
I'd love to learn more about what you expected to see so we can get to the bottom of it, but if you feel like you've come across a SmartScan error, please shoot us a message at [email protected] so we can take a look at the expense and report the issue.

I live in UK, I get paid from a Canadian company, in GBP£.
The default policy is CAD$.
I scan receipts of all currencies, mainly EUR€ & GBP.
Expensify app doesn't recognise the € symbol on my receipts - it converts the total amount shown on the receipt into GBP£.
See attached screen shot, the receipt is EUR£, yet Expensify documents it as GBP£.

I don't have location services turned on, also, I don't have access to my iOS device when abroad, I must take the receipts back to UK before filing my expenses.

I'd like to be able to troubleshoot this with you directly. This often means discussing account specific details. Rather than doing so on a public forum can I ask you to please send a message to [email protected] either via email or from the Expensify in-app messenger?
