Why does Expensify Visa Card prompt for PIN.

My guys are trying to use the Expensify Visa card at Sam's Club but they are prompted for a PIN. They have tried to bypass the PIN with all methods to no success. How can this be resolved.
They have tried entering 1234. Failed
Pressing the green enter button with no PIN. Failed
Entering 0000 as the PIN. Failed
Asked the clerk to run as credit. Denied Transaction
Very frustrated with the PIN issue.

Hi @AaronAllen - thanks for writing in. There is no PIN for the Expensify Card. These errors are generally caused by the merchant's terminal configuration, and seems to be restricted to a few, but not all, Walmart or Sam's Club locations. If trying to bypass the PIN requirement doesn't work, you may be able to try using a different terminal. If that still doesn't work, you may be able to place the order online for delivery or pick-up. We didn't encounter this problem with our previous Amex corporate cards. This tells me that the problem is with the Expensify card rather than the merchant's terminals. We had been using the Amex cards for years at both WalMart and Sam's Club and never had a problem.

Our team are aware of this issue with WalMart and Sam's Club, and it seems to be just these merchants that the Expensify Card has some trouble with. As you've tried running the card as a credit, the other option would be to attempt to place an order online. Sorry about that!

We keep having this problem also and we are a school so we are always shopping at walmart and sams club. The only thing that has worked is when the store will enter the numbers manually but one of my employees went this weekend and the store refused to enter the numbers manually. we've had our employees keep our old credit cards for the times when the Expensify cards won't work. (it's been a problem for 9 months, I'm not sure why it's only a problem with the Expensify card, it wasn't with our past 3 credit card companies)

@lclark_theacademyok thanks for getting in touch! As mentioned, this is happening when the merchant runs the card as a Debit transaction, instead of Credit. You'll want your employees to let Walmart and Sams Club know it's a Visa card, so should be run as such.

@Nicole Mendonca For our employees this is happening when they run it as a credit card and the only solution has been to manually enter.

@lclark_theacademyok If a merchant requires a PIN with no option to select credit or otherwise, then the employee will not be able to use the card. However, with this new information, I recommend each employee reminding the cashier that it is a Visa card, and needs to be run as such.
