Can you submit to multiple people?

Can you submit to multiple people? I would like to create a workflow where I can have employees submit expenses to different people/departments and then have those people approve to 1 person.

Hello @Make247, welcome! At this time our approval workflows do not support multiple approvers at a single level. An employee can only submit to a single approver, who can then approve and forward the report to another individual.
Check out this Deep Dive on approval workflows for more information.
If you'd like to chat about your needs some more, I'd recommend reaching out to [email protected] so we can discuss account details and your workflow in a non-public space.
Thanks!

@Make247 - what is the criteria for the expenses from 'employee A' being submitted to different approvers?

Our corporate credit card syncs to expensify so I would like to submit a report with all marketing charges to the marketing department, all procurement expenses to procurement, etc.
-
umm not sure about that as most expenses on a credit card would need to be on one report so that it could be reconciled. Do you have an account manager at Expensify? We get our account manager to work through rules we need for things like this

I need this function as well, we integrated with Mavenlink, but still do approvals in Expensify, I need project managers to approve billable expenses on their projects only, and non-billable expenses to go to the employees manager. How can we configure for this scenario?

Hi @Amy01 - thanks for posting! In your scenario, it sounds like you'd want a policy for billable expenses and a policy for non-billable expenses.
If you separated these expenses by policy, employees who submit billable expenses under the billable policy can use a different approval workflow than individual submitting non-billable expenses under the non-billable policy.
-
That is not the only way we need to route approvals, we need to route for both billable expense and the project the expense is on, each project has a different project manager, one person could be on multiple projects.

Hi @Amy01 it may help to think of the Expensify approval workflow as a funnel with the Final Approver at the spout, rather than a tree with the Submitter at the trunk.
The Submitter can submit to Approver A, or if you set an Approval Limit e.g. $5000 if the report is over $5k it goes to Approver B. This then enters the next tier of approval which can again have $ limits, until it reaches the final approver.
The focus of Expensify is on expense management rather than Project Management, which means that the approving looks at $$ rather than tags. However you can export reports and expenses to CSV to see expenditure against a certain project/tag.
Do you currently have a WIP manager monitoring budgets on your projects? What tool do they currently use to check the budget vs actual?

Thank you for the clarification, we do need a product with more configurable abilities that support project management budgets.

@RachCHopkins Hello, any progress on the PM approval flow? We are really interested in that feature as well

Hi @Alina_D, thanks for checking in! There isn't an update to share at this time but we'll be sure to do so if we make any changes.
Cheers!
