Default scan currency different than report output currency

Is it possible to set a default scanning currency that is different from the one chosen for report output. I always scan receipts in currency x and do not want to have to change it every time from currency y, but want my reports to show currency y. I am an inidividual user. Thank you.

Hi @Bilski it's not possible to specify two different currencies. However, if the currency is listed on the receipt, then SmartScan should pick it up correctly. If you're taking SmartScan photos with your mobile app then if the app has location permission enabled we'll try to use the location info to select the currency matching the location (if the currency isn't marked on the receipt)

Thanks Sonia
Sorry for my late reply. I wasn't wanting to specify two currencies (I wasn't clear). When I scan a receipt I want the app to automatically use a foreign currency. Now, (I don't know how) it is using my usual foreign currency (I live abroad). But when I come to the US, I would like it to automatically use USD. Since I don't remember how I changed it to default to my foreign currency when I scan, I won't know how to use USD as a default them I am there.😉

Hi @Bilski
We will use location to determine currency. You can adjust default report currencies here: https://community.expensify.com/discussion/5743/deep-dive-currency-in-expensify-overview#:~:text=Change%20the%20account's%20default%20currency,change%20the%20Report%20Output%20Currency.
Let me know if this is what you were looking for!

Further to this discussion, if I scan a foreign currency and the report converts it to my home currency (which is Cdn dollars), is there a way to have the conversion include a default percentage for the bank fee on the conversion? That would be so awesome!!
