Expensify.org Teachers Unite

We're excited to announce the Teachers Unite campaign! 

We’re calling all teachers to submit out-of-pocket expenses for reimbursement. Our campaign intends to support teachers throughout the school.

Teachers are allowed to submit a maximum of 10 expenses per school year. Each expense can be up to $100 - we’ll split that with you, giving you back $50! 

How it works:

Step 1: Join Expensify.org

Friends & Family - Refer a teacher to expensify.org:

  1. Download the NewExpensify app for iOS or Android
  2. Sign in with your email address
  3. Click the ‘+’ green button  > choose Save The World choose “I know a teacher”
  4. Follow the prompts and enter the teacher’s work email
  5. We’ll invite you to the #teachers-unite Expensify.org channel to chat with other members and get updates on the campaign
  6. We’ll contact the teacher through NewExpensify and provide them with the steps to Split bills with Expensify.org.



Teachers - Join Expensify.org to be reimbursed.

  1. Download the NewExpensify app for iOS or Android
  2. Sign up with your work email 
  3. Click the ‘+’ green button  > choose Save The World choose “I am a teacher”
  4. Fill out the form with your principal’s work email address, as they’ll be your approver.
  5. We’ll create a chat with you and Expensify.org and provide the steps to Split bills.



Step 2: Split your expenses with the Expensify.org team

  1. Check the eligible expense guide at www.expensify.org/teachersunite
  2. Sign in to NewExpensify on the web or mobile app
  3. Find the chat between you and Expensify.org in the left sidebar.
  4. Click on the chat
  5. Tap the ‘+’ button in the chat
  6. Choose Split bill
  7. Add the total amount of the purchase 
    1. Note: $100 is the maximum amount for an expense. If your expense is more than $100, please enter $100 as the amount.
  8. Tap Next
  9. Add your work email to the Paid By field
  10. Add “Teachers Unite!” to Split With
  11. Tap Split 
  12. Once the expense is created, click on the expense and the '+' again and Add Attachment to add the receipt
  13. Your expense will be sent to your Principal to approve and Expensify.org to split with you.


Step 3: Have your Principal Approve the Split bill

  1. The Split bill will be visible for your principal in NewExpensify on the web or mobile app.
  2. Once signed in with their work email, they will click the Split bill request in the left sidebar (it will have a green dot)
  3. They will review the expense and then click the Approve button
  4. Once approved, Expensify.org will reimburse the expense



Step 4: Add a bank account

Add your bank account to receive your reimbursement from Expensify.org.

  1. On the NewExpensify mobile or web app
  2. Tap your Profile in the upper right > choose Wallet > follow the prompts to add your personal information.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
