SmartScan should use dates of travel, not purchase date for Airline tickets
It would be great if SmartScan could pick out dates of TRAVEL for airline tickets for the expense, rather than the date of purchase. Most people purchase tickets in advance, and would then have to go in and manually modify the dates on their airline ticket purchases so that the report dates for their travel expenses don't show an incorrect date range. In our office of busy attorney's, they want to have everything automated as much as possible, so updating SmartScan to work this way would be a boon!

Alternatively, have a posted date (which comes from credit card feed) AND transaction date, where the user could choose to use transaction date for travel. I would do that.

Expensify is purely developed to accommodate employee expenses and export to an accounting ledger. If SmartScan identified the travel dates of an expense, it would then never merge with an imported card transaction and your internal finance teams would end up with duplicate transactions - set a good distance apart.
We certainly won't be updating SmartScan to do this, but it seems like the issue might just be with the inability to surface the travel date information anywhere in the report to an Approver, rather than feeling like the "date" on the Expense is somehow incorrect.

I totally agree with your comment, the date needs to be the date of purchase to merge to the card feed.

To track expenses specifically for certain trips, I need to create a tag for every trip I take (I travel 3-5 days per week). I'd love to automate this somehow, even to a small degree.
