Multiple Pictures to make up one receipt.
One of my main struggles with using expensify, is when I import a double sided receipt for my credit card expenses (Sainsbury's receipts are the main culprits!!). Because the date field is on the back, it means none of these autoscan.
It would be useful if multiple scans would could just make up one scan account.
Additionally this would be useful for Hotel statements where I have a till receipt to prove my credit card was successful, and a breakdown on an invoice too.
These two areas take up almost half of my statement most months, so this would definitely be helpful.
Comments
My boss needed to do that today as well. That would be very helpful.

Like Sarah, there are instances where I have 2 items of documentation, for example, an invoice/bill showing an itemised breakdown and a credit card receipt showing proof of payment. I would like to be able to store both in the same expense. As a workaround, I am storing the extra documents in an additional 'report' that I created just so I can keep this kind of supplementary documentation within the same system- not ideal!

1 · Accept Answer Off Topic 1Insightful Vote Up AwesomeWe just started implementation of Expensify last week. I already had a staff member come to me asking what to do with a 2 (double) sided receipt. This should be a doable software fix. Thank you for considering this update.

1 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful 1Vote Up AwesomeJust an idea that might help out, you can always attach multiple page PDF files to an expense. If you need to capture from your phone, you can use an app like Scanner Pro or ScanBot to combine multiple images into a single pdf then upload. The process isn't really any slower than smart scanning from Expensify.

I'm imagining a PDF with multiple pages as the outcome. Does anyone have feedback on these points, or think I'm missing anything?

Sometimes we have grocery receipts (50+ items) and takes multiple pictures to capture the entire receipt. Also, some information is located at the top of the receipt, and other details are at the very bottom. so to get both the merchant, date, amount, and all itemized items requires more than 1 picture.
+1 for the hotel folio comment as well

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up AwesomeMore and more stores are saving paper by using systems that print on both sides of the receipt. In order to have valid records, we need the itemization. But Expensify’s one photo option makes me sacrifice the itemization or the total, either of with the IRS isn’t going to accept. This is an easy fix Expensify team. What is the timeline for implementation?

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up AwesomeThere isn't currently a plan to implement a solution for this one just yet, but we're looking into it. For the time being, we recommend taking a picture of each side of the receipt then combining them into single PDF for scanning.

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up AwesomeThis is so painful. I used to be able to change a scanned visa payment receipt to a document - by detaching it, deleting the expense and reattaching it as a document. It was a pain but at least worked. Now I can't even do that.
I need the Visa payment slip and receipt tied together. I don't use a phone rather scansnap to bulk send to expensify directly. Because of these changes, something which was inconvenient has now become impossible. What a time wasting exercise. It should not be taking years to allow customers to attach 2 pieces of proof to one expense!!!

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up Awesome@TMF5012 Hey! Attaching a Document to a report is still possible, so I'm sorry that's not clearer. First, save your additional documentation to your phone or computer, then open the report, then scroll down to the Write a comment field, and tap/ click the paperclip icon to add the Document to the report. That'll add it there, no painful workarounds necessary!

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up AwesomeYeah - it still is very painful. Re-read what I wrote please. I scan everything directly to expensify via Scansnap. And then sort and apply. This is increased steps and is time wasting. I should be able to do it from within expensify. Trust me when I say it is impossibly difficult.

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up Awesome@TMF5012 Sure - I wanted to make sure that you knew that you didn't need to take those extra steps of uploading a receipt, detaching it from the expense, deleting the expense and attaching that to the report.
One question to understand that better: why not just take a photo of the itemised receipt and payment slip? When I use my card and need both (for example, when I add a tip via the card receipt), I take a photo that includes both receipts, and SmartScan reads the larger amount

0 · Accept Answer Off Topic Insightful Vote Up AwesomeI have an ix500 scansnap and the scansnap software links directly to expensify.
So I take my 100 receipts at the end of the month and scan them all to expensify in about 1 min. I don't take individual photos with my phone. From there smartscan and rules take over.
The process of not being able to work with all documents from within the expensify dashboard is therefore very very frustrating. I should be able to click all expense slips and apply to their respective reports, and then click all visa payment slips and in one simple move attach them to the respective reports as documents. Finished.
Bulk actions. That's what saves time. Handling each piece of paper individually defeats the point.
