Subcategories seperated in Excel output file
Hello,
As I would like to make use of the subcategories function, I would also like the subcategory to show up in one seperate column when exporting to Excel. Unfortunately I haven't found a formula for this yet.
For example, let's say the subcategories are set up as:
Advertising
Advertising: TV
Advertising: Radio
Then TV and Radio are the subcategories that show with an indent below the main Advertising category.
However, when exporting this to Excel, I would like one column to only show the part behind the ":", so only TV or Radio. Right now it is showing the full Advertising: TV or Advertising: Radio. Is there a formula so that only the part behind the ":" is shown in the excel column?
Many thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Koen

Hey @klohuis great question!
You can mix the {expense:category} formula with a substring attachment. This can get tricky and requires that first portion of the category name is always the same length of characters. Check out this guide for more info on substrings.
If you need something more dynamic, please reach out to Concierge@expensify.com and ask us about a custom template.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have more questions.

Hi Karissa,
Thanks for your reply! I saw the substrings, but unfortunately we can't use this since each category has a different amount of characters.
I will email concierge@expensify.com and hopefully there is a solution.
