e-receipts replacing my smartscanned receipts

Hi, a problem I've been running into is that sometimes when I smart scan my receipt, or when I forward my receipt to Expensify Receipt Forwarder, the receipt ends up showing up as an e-receipt instead of the receipt that I scanned or emailed. Do you know why this is happening?
