Landscape mode

I can only use portrait mode. Some people have needs to use landscape mode and expensify does not support landscape mode. This is discrimination against people who need landscape mode.

    Hi @Expensifyissocialist, we do like to make sure our app is as Accessible as we can make it, although it's certainly not as great as it could be.

    Forgive my ignorance, can you fill me in on your use case that necessitates a landscape mode as opposed to just capturing a portrait image of your receipt from further away?

    There are many situations, not just to capture a receipt, but also to use the app in landscape mode:

    -Almost all handwritten invoices are printed in landscape mode (think about the old carbon copy ones)

    -Many custom invoices are printed in landscape mode, ace hardware and home depot are both stores that prints all invoices in landscape mode if you request a full page invoice.

    -Some people are hard of sight and landscape mode makes it easier to see text

    -Landscape mode is more comfortable for some users, my grandma has arthritis and can only user her phone in landscape mode for example.

    -Landscape mode is just overall preferred by many users.

    -Sometimes a place does not provide a receipt, such as at a gas station, and i take a snapshot of the total i was charged. I cannot use the app for this. I have to exit, take a photo, and then upload the photo. I would prefer to just take the photo with expensify.

    Appreciate you fleshing this out with more context @expensifyrsocailist!

    On your points about invoices being printed in landscape - a lot of our users simply capture the whole invoice in portrait mode by moving further away, or by requesting a digital invoice that can be emailed to [email protected]

    If you only have the total on a receipt, you can still SmartScan within the app, you'll just need to enter the rest of the details manually.

    I appreciate your points about making the app more accessible for users who are hard of sight or arthritic. If your idea takes off and gets a lot of votes from others who see it as a worthwhile solution, our team will review it and make a decision.
