Adding Categories when synced with QB Chart of accounts

Hi!
Was wondering if it was possible to add extra categories in Expensify that do not exist in QB online if we have our chart of account synced?

For example we would like Expensify to have two categories under travel: travel-client, travel-non client. We would like both of these to route to our Travel GL account in QB, but it would make it easier for our employees and approves to break these out. Is this possible? Can we create sub accounts in Expensify only?

Thank you for your help!

Hi @becca, welcome to the Community!

The Chart of Accounts from your accounting software overrides Expensify, because when you export your expense reports back to QBO (or any software) the system needs to know exactly where to put those transactions.

Potentially you could look at using Customers/Jobs from QBO as Tags, so that client-related travel is tagged to the client, particularly if it is later re-billed to the client.

Check out this article for more about Tags in general, and this one about QBO configuration.
