NetSuite Expense Reports Export Error - User Does Not Exist (Only for Journal Entries)

We are running into a weird issue. When exporting certain expense reports to NetSuite, it claims that the user does not exist. Our policy is configured to pass reimbursable expenses as an Expense Report, and non-reimbursable expenses as Journal Entries. The reimbursable expenses from the user go through to NetSuite just fine. But the non-reimbursable expenses complain that the user does not exist.

Here is what we have done so far:

  • We have verified that the user is associated to the same subsidiary as the Expensify Policy.
  • We have verified that the "Non-reimbursable Journal posting account" is also associated to the same subsidiary
  • We have attempted to manually create a journal entry in NetSuite (using the same account/role that connects the Policy to NetSuite) using the same Subsidiary/Posting Account and we are able to resolve the target user without issue.
  • We have other Expensify Policies with a similar setup (Journal Entries for non-reimbursable) that operate just fine

At a bit of a loss as to where to look next...

We figured it out. Turns out it was a currency mismatch between the Policy in Expensify and the Journal Posting Account in NetSuite.

Found it while manually creating Journal Entries in NetSuite. Noticed that if we changed the currency for the entry, it would wipe away all the line item info. Sure enough, the user could be found while using the currency that matched the Posting Account, and could NOT be found while using the currency that matched the Expensify Policy.

Hope this helps anyone else who may run across it.
