Why is my inbox always empty?

I scan receipts using Genius Scan, and then upload them to Expensify. When I go to my "inbox," however, it is always empty, but then the scanned receipts eventually do show up attached to expenses on my cards. Where do scanned receipts for cash expenses go, if not the inbox?
