PIN on Expensify card

I went to make a purchase with a new Expensify card and it asked for a PIN. The cashier rand it 3 different times to process as a credit card but it still requested a PIN. I did not receive any information and could not complete my purchase. I previously used it for gas and it was fine - no issues.

@csimendinger - Thanks for checking in about this! The Expensify Card does not have a PIN associated with it, so you typically shouldn't run into a PIN requirement when using the card. The only way to avoid the declines would be to choose the 'Credit' option rather than a 'Debit Card' option when making a purchase.
We've noticed that a couple of specific merchants (mainly Walmart and Sam's Club) have been requiring PINs for some cards with no recourse. If a merchant requires a PIN with no option to select credit or otherwise, you'll want to try to using a different terminal.

We just rolled out Expensify Cards to 25 employees. In the first two days, two employees reported this exact problem. Retailers are trying to run these as Debit Cards, and asking for a PIN. No way for stores to run as credit.
What is Expensify doing to prevent this issue in the future?

@JonLudwick was this issue resolved for you? Debating whether or not to get the Expensify cards.

@Svillanueva No, not yet. A few more employees have run into this problem since I posted. Right now, they are carrying two cards just in case. I think these are growing pains.
I can see why this may be an issue. The money is debited from your checking account nightly (exactly like a debit card). The issuing bank (Sutton Bank) probably has to work on this problem, not Expensify.

After a lot of frustration, I finally had a clerk that was very helpful. For terminals that do not have an option to select credit, users can select "Enter" without entering any numbers and this should should then run through the system as credit. This is what happened at Costco. I would like to think that most places are the same.
