I'm new to the app and have scanned a receipt to test things out. The expense is automatically classified as 'cash' when it was actually a credit card purchase. How do I change this?

Also, how do I add to what the smartscan picked up? I'd like to include the taxes as another field. Is there a way for me to do that?

Thanks!

Hi @JamieHarnish - this is what smartscan reads:

    • it analyzes that text to determine what portions correspond to the merchant name, amount, currency and date of the purchase. If it can't detect a specific currency symbol, it will default to the currency based on your current location. You can also write one in by hand if it's not noted!

I don't believe you can ask it to 'see' the tax. We have the tax defaulted in our policies and then Expensify takes the total of the receipt and calculates the tax from that.

Have you got your credit card feed going directly into Expensify? Under Account Settings > Credit Card import

To set up tax tracking, just head to Settings > Policies > Group > [Policy Name] > Tax
