Can you assign an Expense to multiple categories?

I'm wondering how I can assign an expense to different categories & classes. We often purchase things together for different Accounting Categories & Classes and need to be able to split out the costs accordingly for each transaction.

Hi there, @slewalt ! You can use the split button on your expenses to do so, and then assign the appropriate category and tag(s) to each part of the split expense. You might find this How-to post very helpful:

I don't have a split button on my app or desktop, but my co-worker does on her app. Is it something that admin has to turn on?

If you're not seeing the button, add a screenshot and we'll see if we can figure out what we're missing here!

That's strange because my co-worker uses an Expensify Card only & she is able to split the transactions. Here is a screenshot from my app.

Hm interesting! Can you please provide me with a screenshot of what your colleague is seeing and her email address? We are in the process of building a feature to split Expensify Card transactions, but it's currently not possible. That should explain why you are unable to split that transaction in your screenshot.

That is quite curious — though we are currently building out the split functionality to work with Expensify Card transactions, this isn't currently supported, so [email protected] should not see this button.
Would you be able to ask her to reach out to [email protected] with this screenshot? We'll be able to get our engineering team to take a closer look here.
But rest assured — your inability to split the transaction right now is by design, not in error. Keep an eye out on the Community, because we should be announcing the ability to split transactions very shortly!

Also, what's the status on the split feature for Expensify Cards? We now have all of our staff set up with them & will need to be able to split transactions for purchases this month.

@slewalt - the split feature for Expensify cards is still very much in the early development stages. I'd keen an eye on our Product Updates blog for any posts about that - it's certainly very unlikely to be this month.
