If I put a limit on an expensify card of $500.00 Will it still allow a card holder to make a purchase over $500 but will not allow any after that until that expense is categorized?

    Hi @tristen!

If you set a limit of $500 then the user will only be able to make purchases up to $500. A purchase of $501 or more will be declined.

A small purchase that takes them over their available limit will also be declined. For example, if they made a purchase of $450 this leaves $50 available on their limit. So if they try to buy something over $50 their card will be declined.

The limit is reset once they submit their outstanding expenses and the expenses are approved. To make this easier we recommend enabling Scheduled Submit at a regular frequency so that the user doesn't run into the issue of forgetting to submit their expenses (only expenses that have been correctly coded will be auto-submitted, expenses that aren't ready for submission will be held back and the user will receive a notification to fix any expenses that aren't following policy rules.)

    I hope this helps!
