Exporting to the next open period in NetSuite
Expensify's NetSuite integration now allows you to indicate whether or not you'd like to export your reports to the next open period in NetSuite if the report's period is already closed! When this feature is toggled on, if a report fails to export to the accounting period it's currently enabled for, we will create the report in the most recent open accounting period.
To access your policy's configuration settings and start using this feature, navigate to Settings > Policies > [Policy Name] > Connections > NetSuite and click Configure. This feature can be toggled on or off from the Advanced tab.

Can you do for Xero as well?

Hi Daveweez! Exporting to Xero works a bit differently. There's no toggle available but, by default, if a report's period is closed we'll always automatically post exported reports to the next available period
Let me know if you have any more questions about this!

Hi Brigid,
Just a quick question on this, our reports are being exported into NetSuite and posting in a closed period successfully. Will toggling this option ensure that bills post in open periods only?Thank-you
-
Hey Paige! Yes, if you toggle this option on, your exported reports will post to the next open period in NetSuite, even if they had previously been posting to closed periods.

How can this functionality be accessed for QBO? I do not see a toggle.

Thank you. When the sync errors out then, what is the process for export. Can you disable the auto sync at that point and manually push it to the date of approval instead?
-
@Michelle Niemi , the link included in your message is related to recurring expenses, not the GL posting date used in sync when the date of the expense falls into a closed period in QBO. I'm searching for that idea but if you have a handy link, please share. Thanks!

@kruppert I apologize. You will need to post a new Idea post with the request to allow the post to go to the next open period. There currently is not an open idea posted for that yet.

@kruppert When exporting non-reimbursable transactions as credit cards use the posting date from the bank statement. If the period is closed then you would have to go into the QBO website and reopen and then export again. You'll need to select the report you wish to export and manually export it to QBO. Be aware that this is likely to cause duplicates on QBO's side:
The other option is to change the export option to a vendor bill, which will export to the next open period.
Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions!
