How do I connect to multiple Quickbooks Desktop companies?

I am trying to connect Expensify to two company files in Quickbooks. I have established a connection to the first company, but when I try to connect to the second file, I get an error message that a company file is already opened. The file I am trying to connect is what is open and I am signed in as the admin.
Am I missing a step?

Hi, Sheena - Thanks for the references. I had to remove all of the existing connections, restart Sync Manager and QB and then open each company file to rebuild the connections. Once I did that, both company files are now connected to Expensify and my data has been sync'ed.
I appreciate the help.
